through cultural respect, meaningful experiences, and clear, safety-focused organization.
My path to travel advising started in a first grade classroom and wound through the travel guides I write with my dog Penelope as the star. I’ve always believed the right experience can change how you see the world, and that belief shapes every trip I plan.
I’m the kind of traveler who wants to feel a place, not just see it. In Peru, that meant standing at the Sun Gate above Machu Picchu and spending time volunteering in local communities. In Africa, I’ve volunteered at a wildlife conservation center on a private game reserve in Zimbabwe and gone on safari in Botswana. I’ve watched for blue whales off the coast of Sri Lanka and trekked with mountain gorillas in Rwanda. In Europe, I keep coming back to the places that stop you in your tracks; the Renaissance grandeur of Florence and the sun-drenched plazas of Seville have both left their mark on me. And then there’s Turkey, my favorite destination outside of Africa, where ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and some of the world’s most generous hospitality all live in the same place.
